About Us

My name is Lucy Lathan, and my husband and I own an adorable Victorian home in London. While doing renovations, we discovered a locked box full of 19th century reviews, mostly of musical performances but also including theatrical performances and art exhibitions. I think these papers might have historical interest, so in my spare time I’m going to upload them here.

“Louis” Weiss appears to have been a wealthy and cultured German immigrant with a particular passion for classical music in general and the violin in particular, although his tastes could be quite broad. He reviews rather lowbrow-sounding stage plays, for example. He also reviews wine, but not food. He seems to have been a very interesting character!
