How lovely that composer Richard Wagner conducted this festival himself! I’ve been a devotee of his music for years now, and I was absolutely thrilled that I already had a box seat for the entire season.
I have it on good authority that certain members of the first violin section don’t care for Wagner, but one couldn’t tell from the performance. They were sublime.
I am also delighted that they stuck with gas lighting rather than attempting the hideous electric lights as they did for the Shah. May the hideous trend die the ignoble death it deserves!
Sadly, Wagner has handed off conducting to [illegible], but the concert is still well worth attending. I highly recommend it.
